Search: GrantResults 1 - 20 of 491 ResultsChairs in Design EngineeringAgency: NSERC Chairs in Design Engineering (CDEs) were established to improve the level and quality of design engineering activity within Canadian universities. NSERC encourages a multidisciplinary view of design engineering and encourages applications from all engineering disciplines. Deadline: April 8, 2012 Details: Major Resources Support ProgramAgency: NSERC The objective of the MRS program is to facilitate the effective access by Canadian academic researchers to major and unique national or international (based in Canada) experimental or thematic research resources by financially assisting these resources to remain in a state of readiness for researchers to use. MRS grants are not intended to support resources that are standard in a discipline or commonly available in Canadian universities. The MRS program also aims to facilitate access by Canadian academic researchers, who come together as national consortia, to major international resources located outside Canada, the equivalent of which is not available in Canada. This support excludes any direct financial support towards the operating and maintenance costs of such resources. Deadline: May 1, 2012 Details: Strategic Project GrantsAgency: NSERC The goal of Strategic Project Grants (SPG) is to increase research and training in targeted areas that could strongly enhance Canada’s economy, society and/or environment within the next 10 years. Applicants are encouraged to incorporate international collaborations into their proposals. Deadline: April 1, 2012 Details: HFSP Research GrantsAgency: HFSP The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) supports innovative basic research into fundamental biological problems with emphasis placed on novel and interdisciplinary approaches that involve scientific exchanges across national and disciplinary boundaries. In the past decade biological research has become increasingly quantitative rather than descriptive. The participation of scientists from disciplines outside the traditional life sciences such as biophysics, chemistry, computational biology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, nanoscience or physics has contributed to this change and will continue to do so. Such collaborations have opened up new approaches for understanding the complex structures and regulatory networks that characterize living organisms, their evolution and interactions. Deadline: March 28, 2012 Details: Catalyst Grant: HIV/AIDS Community-Based Research (2012)Agency: CIHR The CIHR HIV/AIDS Community-Based Research (CBR) Program assists community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations and institutions in developing the knowledge necessary to carry out their HIV/AIDS work in the most effective manner, and in creating expertise within these communities to conduct their own research. The aim of this Catalyst Grant is to provide seed money, on a short-term basis, to support health research activities which represent a first step towards the pursuit of more comprehensive funding opportunities (e.g., operating grants). Deadline: April 2, 2012 Details: Other: Transplantation ResearchAgency: CIHR The CIHR Program Grant in Transplantation Research has been developed in response to the workshop recommendations and will provide an opportunity for the transplantation community to come together in a national Program that will transform the clinical outcomes for Canadian transplant patients. The Program will integrate independently-fundable research projects and may include core technologies. The Program will encompass a number of sub-projects addressing the many facets of solid organ and HSCT transplantation, including research focused on, but not limited to, the priority areas described below. The Program will unite researchers from at least three of the four health research themes: biomedical; clinical; health systems and services; and population and public health and demonstrate a clear advantage over independent, single grants and a strong value-added component over status quo. The sub-projects that make up the Program must represent scientific input from all Principal Applicants. These sub-projects, which may differ substantially in size, complexity and cost, must be able to stand alone as independently-fundable research projects, but at the same time, must contribute substantially to the primary research goals of the program as a whole. Each sub-project can be either single focus or multidisciplinary in composition and scope. Deadline: April 16, 2012 Details: IASP Research SymposiumAgency: IASP This program, established in 1998, sponsors research symposia on topics of interest to basic scientists and clinical researchers. Each symposium may be followed by a state-of-the-art volume covering the topic of the meeting. Applicants must be members of IASP. Deadline: March 15, 2012 Details: IASP Collaborative Research GrantsAgency: IASP The IASP Collaborative Research Grants support international, interdisciplinary collaborations in pain research. The principal investigator in charge of the overall project must be a member of IASP of at least one year’s standing. Deadline: March 15, 2012 Details: IASP Developing Countries Collaborative Research GrantsAgency: IASP The IASP Developing Countries Collaborative Research Grants supports international and interdisciplinary collaborations in pain research, specifically between laboratories in a developing country (see list of eligible countries) and in a developed country. Deadline: March 15, 2012 Details: Knowledge Synthesis Grant: Suicide PreventionAgency: CIHR Applications are sought for knowledge syntheses grants that will underpin the future development of interventions related to suicide prevention. These syntheses should summarize the empirical evidence related to the effectiveness of suicide prevention interventions. Deadline: February 13, 2012 Details: Other: Travel Awards - Institute Community Support (Winter 2012 Competition)Agency: CIHR Through the Institute Community Support (ICS) Program, the CIHR Institutes are launching the ICS Travel Awards competition for students, postdoctoral fellows, new investigators and knowledge users to present their own research at national and international meetings and/or conferences. This ICS Travel Awards competition will not support travel for research skills development or update, exchange programs or lectureships. Deadline: January 30, 2012 Details: Other: Synapse – CIHR National Youth Outreach ProgramAgency: CIHR The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are: Deadline: February 7, 2012 Details: Other: Interventional Clinical Trial for CCSVI in MS PatientsAgency: CIHR This Funding Opportunity invites research teams to submit proposals for the conduct of a combined Phase I/II interventional clinical trial for CCSVI in multiple sclerosis patients. Working with the Scientific Expert Working Group, CIHR has identified select elements (some being very specific) that all applications will be required to incorporate into their proposed trial design. Those specific requirements for inclusion (or exclusion) are outlined as part of the application requirements below. Deadline: February 29, 2012 Details: Partnership GrantsAgency: SSHRC Partnership Grants provide support for new and existing formal partnerships over four to seven years to advance research and/or knowledge mobilization in the social sciences and humanities through mutual co-operation and sharing of intellectual leadership, as well as through resources as evidenced by cash and/or in-kind contributions. Deadline: February 15, 2012 Details: Student Training and Research in Tumor Immunology (STaRT) GrantsAgency: CRI Through its Student Training and Research in Tumor Immunology (STaRT) Grants, the Cancer Research Institute seeks to attract bright young minds to rewarding careers as cancer immunologists. STaRT Grants provide up to $60,000 of support over two years for graduate students conducting thesis research in the area of tumor immunology. Deadline: March 1, 2012 Details: Proof of Principle: Phase II (Winter 2012 Competition)Agency: CIHR The Proof of Principle (POP) Phase II Program provides funding for proof of principle research projects up to 12 months in duration at the co-investment stage undertaking follow-on proof of principle activities in partnership with a non-academic investor. This funding opportunity is aimed at providing a platform to better enable the academic institution/researcher to move the discovery/invention further down the innovation pipeline. Research projects across all four pillars of CIHR are eligible for this program. Note that the end product is not required to generate revenue, but there must be a demonstrated market and opportunity for your product. Deadline: February 15, 2012 Details: Proof of Principle: Phase I - Winter 2012 Priority Announcement (Specific Research Areas)Agency: CIHR The specific objective of the Proof of Principle: Phase I Priority Announcement (Specific Research Areas) is to offer additional sources of funding for highly rated applications that are relevant to specific CIHR research priority areas and mandates.
