The Canadian Pain Society in partnership with Pfizer Canada provides the Clinical Pain Management Fellowship Award. This award will support graduates of Canadian postgraduate medical education programs who wish to complete a further year of study in pain management at a Canadian University offering a fellowship program in pain management. Applications will also be considered from individuals who wish to complete further study at institutions outside of Canada; however such requests should clearly justify the selection of a training site outside of Canada. Applicants must have completed an MD, have completed (or will complete before commencement of the fellowship) a residency program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada and are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant with permanent Canadian residence.

This award will support highly qualified candidates at the post PhD stage to add to their experience by engaging in pain research at a Canadian institution. The purpose of the Ajaib (Jab) and Nirmal (Munni) Sidhoo Charities Fund is to support and strengthen the training, continuing education, and collaborative work of young researchers working at VGH and UBC Hospital in the areas of Diabetes or Urology. As participation at scientific conferences is an important activity in the development of a research career, this competition will support VCHRI research trainees to present at an international conference.

The main goal of the Internship Awards is to provide exposure to research for international development through a program of training in research management and grant administration under the guidance of IDRC program staff. Internships are designed to provide hands-on learning experiences in research program management - in the creation, dissemination and utilization of knowledge from an international perspective.

The IMPART research training program provides research training awards to highly qualified individuals pursuing a research career in addictions research with a particular focus on gender, women and addictions. Awards consist of a time-limited stipend and a research/travel allowance for graduate students studying at the Masters and Doctoral level; and for Postdoctoral Fellows and Clinician Researchers.

Two-year grant of $100,000. Two grants will be awarded this cycle. The Fellowships are open to postdoctoral and clinical research fellows. Applications are invited from researchers currently in the field as well as from investigators with experience in other areas of cancer research who have promising ideas or research approaches that can be applied to ileal carcinoid tumor research. Proposed research may be basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological in nature and must have direct application and relevance to ileal carcinoid tumors.

The goal of the IRDI program is to introduce graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to practical business problems and provide them with the opportunity to apply their scientific and technical expertise to address the needs of participating businesses, as well as to create a vehicle that will facilitate increased private investment in Research and Development (R&D). The IRDI program is open to all research areas.

The New Investigator Salary Award program is designed to provide outstanding New Investigators the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their independence in initiating and conducting health research through provision of a contribution to their salary. A New Investigator is defined as a researcher who has held a full time research appointment for a period of 0 to 60 months as of the September competition deadline.

The purpose of the New Investigator Salary Award program is to provide New Investigators the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their independence in initiating and conducting health research through provision of a contribution to their salary. A New Investigator is defined as a researcher who has held a full time research appointment (e.g., faculty appointment providing eligibility to apply for grants and/or supervise trainees), for a period of 0 to 60 months as of the competition deadline.

The Clinician-Scientist program has two phases. Phase 1 provides stipends for up to six years of training support. Phase 2 provides a contribution to the salary of the recipient for up to six years.
This program (Phase 1) is directed towards highly qualified and motivated clinicians who have been identified by a Canadian medical school or dental school as having strong potential to become clinician scientists.
For Industry-Partnered Programs in this launch, candidates must secure the sponsorship of an eligible Rx&D member company before a registration can be submitted.

In order to honour the contributions of Kenneth J. Fyke, the founding Chair of the Canadian Blood Services Board of Directors, an award has been established in his name to support a research or innovation pilot project in health services delivery as it pertains to the blood system in Canada. This includes blood operations, blood utilization/conservation and the use of blood alternatives.
