NLCAHR’s Scholar-in-Residence Award provides funding for a researcher to spend one or two terms at Memorial University. The visiting researcher will provide input into local research activities, help build linkages and facilitate collaboration of local researchers with external researchers and research organizations. The Canadian Water Resources Association offers five scholarships

The Canadian Water Resources Association annually offers five scholarships.  These scholarships are available to graduate students whose programs of study focus upon applied, natural, or social science aspects of water resources. The scholarships will have the following values:

  • Dillon Consulting Scholarship - $5,000: This scholarship will be awarded to the highest ranked of the applicants.  Funding is provided by Dillon Consulting Ltd. on an annual basis.
  • Ken Thomson Scholarship - $2,000: This scholarship will be awarded to the second highest ranked of the applicants. The Ken Thomson Scholarship is awarded from a special fund set up in his honour. 
  • 3 Scholarships - $1,500 each: These scholarships are funded from the general funds of the Canadian Water Resources Association.

Silverhill Institute of Environmental Research and Conservation Summer Research Fellowships

The Silverhill Institute grants are available for graduate students to provide assistance in carrying out applied research projects. The intent is to provide funding for applied research projects with a Canadian or North American focus being carried out at either the Masters or PhD levels. The amount of the major grant is $3,500; smaller awards of $500 are also available.

The Canadian Thoracic Society Research Fellowship Program

The aim of this program is to encourage highly qualified graduate students enrolled in a PhD program who are undertaking research in the field of respiratory health. At the time of submission, applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program (MSc or PhD). Applicants possessing a medical degree and enrolled in a PhD program, but who do not hold a license to practice medicine in a province or territory of Canada, are eligible to apply for this award.

The Canadian Thoracic Society AllerGen – Clinician – Scientist Asthma Award

The award is provided to undertake training projects in asthma research, across two main strands: basic research, which includes investigations into the causes of asthma and disease mechanisms; and clinical research, into treatments and management of asthma. This includes the psychosocial aspects of asthma and non-drug approaches to managing asthma.
