Bridge Program

The Bridge Program is a multidisciplinary graduate fellowship program whose goal is to develop creative evidence-based strategies to solve public, environmental and occupational health problems. The focus is on prevention of disease and injury (rather than medical care), using approaches that link the public health, engineering and policy realms. The Program provides funding to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars and professionals, and brings them together with faculty mentors in an interactive environment.

Bridge Program Graduate Students

Masters and doctoral students applying to one of the 8 Bridge-affiliated academic units are welcome to apply to the Bridge Program for fellowship funding and supplementary research training linking the health, engineering and policy realms.
Applications are accepted from Canadian and international students who will be entering the first year of their degree programs. Students in the second and subsequent years of their degree program will not be considered. No exceptions. Students from China who are pursuing doctoral studies are eligible for the Canada-China Health Research Scholarship Program.

Bridge Program Post-Doctoral Fellows

Post-doctoral fellows who have base funding from another source are welcome to apply to the Bridge Program for top-up funding and supplementary research training linking the health, engineering and policy realms. Top-up funding is typically in the form of a $15,000 salary stipend and $5,000 for expenses related to research and research-related travel.
Successful applicants are designated "Bridge CIHR/MSFHR Strategic Training Fellows".
