BC Environmental and Occupational Health Research Network

The Canadian Initiative on Social Statistics (CISS) is a co-operative project of SSHRC and Statistics Canada. Its aim is to promote research and training in the application of social statistics. The Data Training Schools (DTS) serves postsecondary institution researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, policy analysts and data librarians. DTS courses cover topics in quantitative methods and the use of Canadian micro-data. The DTS initiative contributes to increasing the number of researchers engaged in quantitative research.

The SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships and Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Doctoral Scholarships programs aim to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of scholarly achievement in undergraduate and graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities.

The Postdoctoral Fellowships program supports the most promising Canadian new scholars in the social sciences and humanities and assists them in establishing a research base at an important time in their research careers. Fellowships will normally be awarded to candidates affiliated with a university other than that which awarded the PhD. SSHRC postdoctoral awards are tenable in Canada or at a foreign university.

The Postdoctoral Fellowships program supports the most promising new scholars in the social sciences and humanities and assists them in establishing a research base at an important time in their research careers. Postdoctoral Fellowships provide stipendiary support to recent PhD graduates who are: undertaking original research; publishing research findings; developing and expanding personal research networks; broadening teaching experience; and preparing to become competitive in national research grants competitions.
