Graduate Fellowships

PICS Graduate Fellowships are available on an annual basis to outstanding Masters and PhD students at the Institute’s four collaborating universities (UBC, UNBC, SFU and UVic) conducting research in an area related to climate change impacts and adaptation. Fellowships are valued at $12,000 per year for Masters and $18,000 per year for PhD students.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

Outstanding researchers who have recently completed a PhD are invited to apply for
Postdoctoral Fellowships at one of the Institute’s four collaborating universities: University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria. Fellowships are valued at up to $50,000 per year.
Fellowship holders will conduct research in an area related to one of the following four general themes, all of which overlap to varying degrees, and all of which are of key importance to British Columbia:
• establishing a low-carbon-emissions economy;
• enhancing ecosystem resilience;
• enhancing social mobilization within the framework of adapting to and mitigating climate change;
• establishing sustainable communities

Visiting Scholar Fellowship

PICS invites applications from scholars in Canada or abroad for visiting scholar fellowships of up to 12 months duration at one of the Institute’s collaborating universities: University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria. Candidates must be nominated by a sponsoring researcher(s) at one of the partner institutions. Up to $50,000 per year will be provided to cover costs; this amount will be pro-rated for shorter stays.
