The Postdoctoral Fellowships (PDF) Program provides support to a core of the most promising researchers at a pivotal time in their careers. The fellowships are also intended to secure a supply of highly qualified Canadians with leading-edge scientific and research skills for Canadian industry, government, and universities. NSERC encourages qualified Aboriginal students who are interested in the program to apply.

Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) and NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS) provide financial support to high-calibre scholars who are engaged in masters or doctoral programs in the natural sciences or engineering. The CGS will be offered to the top-ranked applicants at each level (master’s and doctoral) and the next tier of meritorious applicants will be offered an NSERC PGS. This support allows these scholars to fully concentrate on their studies and seek out the best research mentors in their chosen fields. NSERC encourages interested and qualified Aboriginal students to apply.
Application deadline through a Canadian university is set by the university.

NSERC will be awarding, on a competitive basis, up to 10 supplements of $5,000 per year for two years, to successful applicants to its postdoctoral fellowships competition who have specified a location of tenure for the award in the U.K.

The purpose of the atmospheric and meteorological graduate supplement is to: promote graduate research in the atmospheric and meteorological sciences in Canadian universities; encourage and support graduate students to carry out research of interest to Environment Canada; increase contacts between Environment Canada researchers and Canadian universities; and promote training of potential candidates for possible future employment at Environment Canada.

The purpose of the Systematics Research Graduate Supplements (SRGS) is to:
• promote graduate research in systematics in Canada;
• encourage and support graduate students to carry out all or part of their research at centres of excellence in systematics research;
• maintain and strengthen the base of expertise for systematics research in Canada; and
• provide practical work experience with natural history collections within a professional setting.

Created in 1998, the international L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science program aims to improve the position of women in science by recognizing outstanding women researchers who have contributed to scientific progress, and young women scientists engaged in exemplary and promising projects. As an extension of this program, L’Oréal Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, will offer two postgraduate scholarship supplements to young Canadian women scientists involved in promising research projects. In addition, the objective is to create a network of women who will act as role models to younger generations within the framework of a Canadian mentorship program for girls in science developed by L’Oréal Canada.

The purpose of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society Scholarship supplement is to foster graduate research in atmospheric and oceanographic sciences in Canada. The first supplement was initiated by Weather Research House Inc. and the second by the Canadian National Committee for the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (CNC-SCOR). Both are sponsored by the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS).

The purpose of the Gordon M. MacNabb Scholarship Foundation Supplement is to: promote graduate research in the field of intelligent systems; encourage and support graduate students carrying out research in Canadian universities; and establish linkages between graduate students and Canadian industry using intelligent systems.
