2009 Post - Doctoral Fellowship

In September 2009, the Centre for Research on Inner City Health at St. Michael’s Hospital (A University of Toronto teaching hospital) will launch a new post-doctoral training program focused on interventions research and partner-engaged research to reduce inner city health disparities. 4-6 Fellows will be admitted annually.

Clinician Research Mentorship and Undergraduate and Practicum Research Aboriginal Health Awards 2009

The objectives of these awards are:
• To develop a Clinician Research Mentorship Program where medical students, family practice residents, specialty residents (and other students of health care professions) with an interest in Aboriginal health, will have the opportunity to approach established and young Clinician Researchers skilled in Aboriginal health issues who can mentor students to develop small and larger projects of interest while they are in training
• To develop an Undergraduate Research Training Program where undergraduate students with an interest in Aboriginal health will have the opportunity to approach established and young Researchers skilled in Aboriginal health issues who can mentor students to develop small and larger projects of interest while they are in training
• To provide an opportunity for Master’s students in practicum-based training programs to develop a research/evaluation project relevant to aboriginal health.

Aboriginal Health Research Fellowships

One of the goals of the NEARBC is to recruit and improve access to Aboriginal health research training programs and promote and support health research careers. The Aboriginal Health Research Fellowships are intended to support and increase the number of health professionals with Aboriginal health research skills and experience.
NEARBC Aboriginal Health Research Fellowships are funded by Canadian Institutes of Heath Research – Institute of Aboriginal People’s Health (CIHR-IAPH), therefore all CIHR-IAPH guidelines for CIHR-IAPH apply. As for the CIHR funding allocation, these fellowships are for student support only and are not intended for operational funding.
Aboriginal students are strongly urged to apply.
