Jump Start Resuscitation – Research Scholarship

This scholarship will provide career support for applicants with credentials in a regulated accredited health discipline such as, but not limited to nursing, social work, pharmacology, respiratory therapy, and medicine. Note: paramedics, although not regulated/accredited discipline in all provinces, are eligible to apply.
The applicant must have a faculty appointment and be involved in active research and clinical practice.

The 4th ICPC/HSFC/CCS Fellowship in Preventive Cardiology

The fellowship is to be awarded to an individual who wishes to undertake post-graduate training in preventive cardiology in a recognized institution in Canada or abroad. Preventive cardiology includes the study of the individual and population causes of cardiovascular (CVD), cerebrovascular (CBD) and peripheral vascular disease (PVD); the epidemiology of CVD, CBD and PVD; and the development and evaluation of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention measures for CVD, CBD and PVD at the individual or population level. Primary prevention refers to measures taken to prevent the appearance of disease; secondary prevention refers to the prevention of recurrences; and tertiary prevention deals with the prevention of complications of disease, the limitations of severity and includes rehabilitation. Economic analyses of preventive practices, studies of public policy, clinical epidemiology and studies of the social and behavioural determinants of risk factors and disease are also eligible. The object of study must be individual humans or human populations.

Focus on Stroke - Research Fellowships & Doctoral Research Awards

The emphasis of this strategic initiative is on building capacity in the later themes/pillars of stroke research (i.e., clinical, health services/policy, and/or population health research) and supporting research training of health professionals (e.g. nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, speech therapists).
Funding priority will therefore be given to highly rated applicants whose research is 60% or more in the area of clinical, health services/policy, and/or population health research. While applications with a basic biomedical research focus are eligible for this competition, a limited amount of funds is available to support research in this area.

Focus on Stroke 9: Research Fellowship

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Stroke Network, the CIHR Institute of Aging and Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health are pleased to launch the ninth instalment of Focus on Stroke.
