As participation at scientific conferences is an important activity in the development of a research career, this competition will support VCHRI research trainees to present at an international conference. In order to build these relationships, VCHRI will provide funds for P.I.s or member(s) of their team to visit their collaborators for an extended period of time. The purpose of these visits is to leverage new opportunities by developing collaborative projects, preparing joint grant submissions and learning new techniques and skills. Deadline: September 1, 2008 Details: 2009 In It for Life Investigator AwardsAgency: Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute The purpose of this program is to promote excellence and build health research capacity through peer-reviewed salary support awards for investigators located at VGH, UBC Hospital and G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre. The in it for life Investigator Awards are funded by VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s in it for life Fund. For 25 years, in partnership with its donors, the Foundation has helped advance world-class health care for British Columbians. There are two categories of investigator awards: Mentored Clinician Scientist and Established Clinician Scientist. These awards are aimed at clinician-investigators (beginning and mid-career respectively) located at VGH, UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, who want to reduce their clinical practice commitments in order to continue developing their research careers as independent investigators. Deadline: May 1, 2008 VCHRI Professional Practice PhD Trainee AwardAgency: Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute The purpose of this award is to provide trainee awards to health care professionals at VGH, UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre who want to pursue PhD studies, and add a research component to their clinical roles. This competition is funded by VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s in it for life Fund. For 25 years, in partnership with its donors, the Foundation has helped advance world-class health care for British Columbians. This competition will fund one award of $30,000/year for a maximum of 3 years. Funding is contingent on continuing enrolment in a PhD program. As an award holder you are required to submit a proposal to a major trainee award competition during your first year (and in future years if not successful). If you receive an external trainee award, the VCHRI award must be turned back. If the value of the external award is less than the VCHRI award, it will be topped up to $35, 000. If the value of the external award is the same as or more than the VCHRI award, you will receive an additional 5,000. Deadline: May 1, 2008 |
