The objective of this invitation for projects is to advance the operational policies, standards and related best practices required by organizations developing, contributing to and using the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI).
GeoConnections is soliciting interest for projects that will:
- Increase awareness of the benefits of using geospatial data and tools to achieve goals for social, economic and environmental priorities
- Facilitate the integration and use of geospatial data to support effective decision making
- Coordinate the development of national policies, standards and mechanisms and support their implementation to ensure maintenance and updating of geospatial data and compatibility with global standards
Keep Canada at the leading edge of accessing, sharing and using geospatial information via the Internet.

On April 8, 2009 GeoConnections/Natural Resources Canada launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Data Needs Assessment project to support Integrated Land Management (ILM) decision making processes which consist of these objectives:
• To identify geospatial data sets used or selected for use to support ILM decision-making processes;
• To identify and prioritize new geospatial data sets identified by project stakeholders as being needed to support and enhance ILM decision-making processes in their region;
• To describe and understand the transformation of geospatial data sets into meaningful information for decision-makers;
• To identify any barriers that may arise in ILM decision-making processes for accessing, using (manipulating, processing, integrating, analyzing, modelling) and sharing the identified key geospatial data sets; and
• To provide opportunities and recommendations to GeoConnections and to the ILM Network for overcoming any identified barriers.

GeoConnections is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity. In order to increase the ease of information sharing of Canadian geographic data, the program is now soliciting proposals for projects to publish location-based, or ’geospatial’, data online through the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI).

GeoConnections/Natural Resources Canada has launched the Request for Proposals (RFP) for conducting and delivering an analysis of the economic impacts of CGDI on Canadian Industry of Geomatics.

GeoConnections is developing a foundation to help the public health community capitalize on geospatial (or location-based) information. This foundation will enable public health practitioners to use geospatial data to improve decision making and work together more effectively.

GeoConnections/Natural Resources Canada launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a four phase project consisting of: development of a public health geospatial information reference framework; an inventory of authoritative closest to source data custodians; identification and analysis of standards in the broad health informatics domain that may be applied to the geospatial domain; recommendations on applying standards to a public health geospatial information reference framework nested within the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure.
