Policy Research grants are intended to stimulate research that will influence, guide or have a direct impact on policy decisions in tobacco control. Specific objectives of the Policy Research Grant program: to increase the involvement of policy decision makers at all levels in the research process; and, to foster excellent, timely research that will influence and guide policy decisions in tobacco control.

Student Research grants are offered to provide opportunities for graduate and post-doctoral students to undertake tobacco abuse and nicotine addiction research. Specific objectives of the Student Research grant program: to support learning opportunities through a one-time grant for students wishing to conduct research projects related to tobacco abuse and nicotine addiction; to provide opportunities for graduate and post-doctoral students to improve skills in tobacco abuse and nicotine addiction research.

The objectives of the initiative are to create new opportunities for graduate and post-doctoral students in Canada to undertake independent research projects related to tobacco control and nicotine addiction interventions and also to support excellent research which is relevant to the priorities of the CTCRI’s research agenda.

Research Planning Grants are offered for the purpose of bringing together new, multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary research teams to construct research proposals for submission to traditional open funding competitions. Each successful proposal may receive a one-time grant of up to $15,000. The number of applications supported each year is contingent upon the availability of funds and the quality of proposals.
