Since the early 1900s, women’s longevity in North America has doubled from 39 years to 81 years as a result of, among other things, advances made through health research. Each year, a call for proposals goes out to medical researchers working in the field of women’s health. These proposals then undergo a blind peer review process to ensure that the most outstanding projects are funded. The successful research projects are recognized at a special ceremony during the Annual Clinical Meeting of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada.
