Details: New Gant Competition: Predictive OncologyAgency: CBCF Predictive oncology is a field of medicine that is advancing rapidly and becoming a critical factor in predicting a person’s risk for cancer, as well as refining the diagnosis and developing personalized treatment. Breast cancer is not a single disease entity, but a group of diseases that can be classified using molecular markers to define groups with different responses to therapy and distinct prognoses. Research supported by this competition could lead to the discovery of molecular markers and approaches that predict which patients will benefit the most from specific therapies, in essence, customizing treatments to achieve optimal outcomes. Other research foci could explore elements of breast cancer that more precisely indicate the level of aggressiveness, thereby enabling more effective, tailored treatments.
