VCHRI Professional Practice PhD Trainee Award

Agency:
Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute

The purpose of this award is to provide trainee awards to health care professionals at VGH, UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre who want to pursue PhD studies, and add a research component to their clinical roles. This competition is funded by VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s in it for life Fund. For 25 years, in partnership with its donors, the Foundation has helped advance world-class health care for British Columbians. This competition will fund one award of $30,000/year for a maximum of 3 years. Funding is contingent on continuing enrolment in a PhD program. As an award holder you are required to submit a proposal to a major trainee award competition during your first year (and in future years if not successful). If you receive an external trainee award, the VCHRI award must be turned back. If the value of the external award is less than the VCHRI award, it will be topped up to $35, 000. If the value of the external award is the same as or more than the VCHRI award, you will receive an additional 5,000.
