The Harold R. Roberts Haemophilia Award of € 15,000 will be given for leading original work focusing on the clinical management of patients with haemophilia. The winner will be announced biannually at the WFH Congress (World Federation of Hemophilia). Please note that only abstracts that have been submitted to the WFH Congress can be used to apply for the Harold R. Roberts Haemophilia Award.

The Access to Insight scholarship supports training in haemophilia and other haemostatic disorders at an approved Haemophilia Treatment Center, and should be taken for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months. The scholarship is awarded at a rate of € 70,000 per annum, pro rata and is to cover travel, accomodation and living costs.
The scholarship aims to help doctors with a minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in haematology and at least 1 year’s experience in haemostasis/haemophilia who have an interest in pursuing or strengthening their career as a haemostasis/haemophilia expert.

The Visiting Fellowships in Canadian Government Laboratories (VF) Program provides promising emerging scientists and engineers with the opportunity to work with research groups or leaders in Canadian government laboratories and research institutions. Fellowships are awarded for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second and third year, at the discretion of the government department concerned. The number of awards varies according to the budgets of participating departments and agencies.

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has established the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Foreign Researchers. A limited number of promising young researchers are given the opportunity to conduct research in Japanese universities and in designated research institutions and laboratories. NSERC is responsible for selecting Canadian nominees for JSPS Fellowships.

The new EXTRA fellowships are available to teams composed of two to four individuals who have completed professional training in any health discipline, including medical practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, health managers and policy-makers. It is expected that recipients of EXTRA team fellowships will have completed their initial professional training in the last five to 15 years, have an ongoing commitment to the application of evidence in healthcare, and occupy leadership roles in their organizations. The team applicant(s) must provide strong evidence of support from their organization(s) throughout the tenure of the fellowship.

The Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health (CFWH) is Canada’s leading national fundraising foundation for women’s health with a focus on reproductive health . The CFWH champions for increased funding for research on women’s health and fosters support for international women’s health programs. Duchesnay is supporting the CFWH through The Duchesnay International Elective Fellowships for Obstetrics and Gynaecology residents who desire to complete an elective in a health care center of a developing country.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-AACR Pathway to Leadership Grant is designed to build future leaders in the pancreatic cancer research community by supporting promising early-career scientists in their postdoctoral positions through the transition to independence. Applicants must have started postdoctoral or clinical research fellowships on or after July 2, 2007 (i.e., must be in the first five years of a fellowship at the start of the grant term). The Pathway to Leadership Grant provides up to five years of support, totaling $600,000.

This call offers Masters and PhD students, as well as Post-Docs, enrolled at a Canadian university a 4 month research-based internship, valued at $15,000. This program provides internship opportunities for graduate students pursuing collaborative research with an industrial partner.

The Scan|Design Foundation by Inger & Jens Bruun International Trainee Fellowship was established in 2006 to support training in all aspects of pain research.
Eligibility Requirements:
• There are no restrictions as to the trainee’s age, nationality, or degree(s).
• The trainee will generally be in an early stage of his or her career.
• To be considered for this fellowship, mentors and trainees must have been members of IASP for at least one year before applying.
• The mentor must be a member of IASP.

The John J. Bonica Trainee Fellowship was established in 1998 in memory of the founder of IASP to support training in all aspects of pain research.
Eligibility Requirements:
• There are no restrictions as to the trainee’s age or degree(s).
• The trainee will generally be in an early stage of his or her career.
• To be considered for this fellowship, mentors and trainees must have been members of IASP for at least one year before applying.
• The mentor must be a member of IASP.
• The mentor must not have served as a mentor for a John J. Bonica Fellowship trainee within the last 3 years.

This Canadian Institutes of Health Research Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research (CIHR/STIHR) funded graduate training program draw’s skills from across Canada to respond to changing demographics and technology and address the health challenges facing persons living in rural Canada as they seek a healthy, safe and sustainable lifestyle. The PHARE program provides scholarship support to graduate students at the Master’s, PhD and postdoctoral level. It is a virtual program, accessible through any eligible Canadian University.

The objective of this scholarship is to support young Canadian visionaries who have a drive to make a difference in the future. The scholarship program encourages individuals with academic excellence and demonstrated leadership. The Centennial scholarship program will have a national presence and will create a legacy for ConocoPhillips Canada Centennial year.

Research Training Awards are available to highly qualified graduate students at the master’s and doctoral level who are undertaking full-time research training on the prevention and/or treatment of occupational illness, injury, and disability. The program is designed to support the development of research capacity in occupational health and safety in British Columbia. To be eligible for consideration, research projects must address WorkSafeBC’s research priorities.

The purpose of this competition is to build health research capacity at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) by supporting VCH research teams to conduct collaborative applied health research directly relevant to current health care issues across VCH.

The MSFHR Research Trainee Program, Post Doctoral Fellowship Awards, support highly qualified Post Doctoral trainees to prepare for careers as independent health researchers. All awards consist of an annual stipend and a research and travel allowance.
MSFHR is also partnering with Fonds de la recherché en santé du Québec (FRSQ) to offer an exchange program for researchers training at the postdoctoral level. The two organizations will jointly fund a limited number of awards enabling BC researchers to pursue postdoctoral training in Québec, and supporting Québec researchers to do the same in BC.

In order to facilitate the mobility of doctoral students between France and Canada, the France Canada Research Fund (FCRF) is launching FCRF Scholarship for thesis cotutelles. It will be awarded for the best running thesis of PhD student participating in the France-Canada joint PhD (cotutelle) program.The FCRF Scholarship for thesis cotutelles finances academic study visits in France (one round-trip airfare and monthly allowance) for a Canadian doctoral student enrolled in a thesis cotutelle program between a French institution and UBC, Uvic and SFU.

The CIHR Health Researcher of the Year Prize (formerly called the Michael Smith Prize in Health Research) is CIHR’s most prestigious prize. A career achievement award, it honours and recognizes an exceptional health researcher in any area of health research who has demonstrated significant achievements in advancing knowledge through excellence in research, in capacity building and mentorship and through research and knowledge translation activities that have made a significant impact on improving health and/or the health system.
One prize is awarded annually. The purpose of the prize is to provide a significant boost in funding over five years to an exceptional health researcher who is expected to continue to produce research of exceptional merit.

The Executive Training for Research Application (EXTRA) program develops capacity and leadership to optimize the use of research evidence in managing Canadian healthcare organizations. EXTRA gives health system managers across Canada the skills to better use research in their daily work, as a way to increase evidence-informed decision-making in the health system.
The EXTRA program targets health service professionals in senior management positions - nurse executives, physician executives, and other health administration executives.

Each year, CFWH issues a call for proposals to medical researchers working in women’s health. The proposals we receive undergo a blind peer review process to ensure that the most outstanding projects are funded. The selected proposals are recognized at a special ceremony during the Annual Clinical Meeting of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada.

The Bridge Program is a multidisciplinary graduate fellowship program whose goal is to develop creative evidence-based strategies to solve public, environmental and occupational health problems. The focus is on prevention of disease and injury (rather than medical care), using approaches that link the public health, engineering and policy realms. The Program provides funding to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars and professionals, and brings them together with faculty mentors in an interactive environment.
