The purpose of the PCW mission is to provide robust 24/7 two-way communications capability to all of the Canadian North for high data rate (HDR) data and information products, potentially also low-data rate (LDR) communications capability, and also near-real time (NRT) meteorological information products about the North to users throughout Canada. These capabilities are
particularly important for climate change studies and monitoring due to warming in Canada’s North.
