Community-based Health Research is an approach to research in which community members affected by the condition or issue under study are active participants in each stage of the work — from conception and design of a plan of action, implementation, analysis, to the dissemination of results and conclusions. This approach requires that community voices are heard in asking the critical questions, documenting and interpreting the findings, and creating the systemic change in local, provincial, and national policies that will respond to the findings. Community-based Health Research grants support initiatives that ensure British Columbians are involved in advancing the health equity of their own communities. These research grants allow researchers and non-profit organizations to collaboratively undertake relevant research at the community level.
