Northeast Community Health Research Group

Northeast Rural and Remote Health Research Group: Planning underway

The first planning meeting toward a rural and remote health research centre in the North East of the province was a success. A diverse group of community-based health and others interested in community wellness met to share expertise and begin to plan research priorities. Some of the strengths noted in our community include a strong degree of interagency collaboration, a high skill level in strategic planning, a willingness to think “outside the box” and a custom of public-private partnerships. Weaknesses identified include a need to engage the grassroots more and to step outside of silos. A potential structure includes vision for a community review board to facilitate research development, support community research and be a clearinghouse for contacting others projects.

We welcome your input.
